Evaâs gaze explored Alaric and I in turn. She stood on the forestâs edge, her eyes wide as they traveled from top to bottom, taking in everything.
Fascinated by the scene in front of her, she unconsciously sucked in her bottom lip and caressed her clavicle, her other arm hanging loosely down at her side.
âEnjoy the show, Princess?â I asked.
She arched her back against the tree across from us, but stood straighter at my words. Her green eyes blinked hard, breaking the trance she was in.
âYeah. Um. What? I mean no. Well yes, but⦠uh, Iâm sorry.â She said, turning to leave as though she was suddenly desperate to be anywhere but here. âIâll wait back at camp. I just wanted to check. I didnât mean toââ
Alaric arched his brow in confusion as he redressed at a leisurely pace. I had an inkling as to what was going on with her, or at least I thought so. The only other option was that she didnât like what she saw, and if that were the case⦠Well fuck, that wasnât an option, not even worth thinking about.
The only thing that made sense, that explained why sheâd go from looking like she was about to slide her hand down into her undoubtedly wet panties, to suddenly praying the ground would swallow her whole while she squirmed, was that she felt she was interrupting something.
Sheâd walked in on Alaric and I, sharing a moment, a private moment, as intimate as it gets. It must have been confusing for her. Did she feel like she shouldnât be here? Like a third wheel? I had a lot more experience than she did when it came to voyeurism, but I think even Iâd feel a little awkward in her shoes.
She didnât need to feel that way, none of us did. She was part of this. Part of us. One third of what we have was her. This thing between the three of us, this⦠relationship? Whatever it was, we needed to talk about it and avoid moments like this happening.
I didnât feel the need to put a label on what we had. Fuck that. I wouldnât even know where to begin putting it into a category, and I hated that everything had to be put into a fucking box all the time.
Why did everyone have to be one thing or another to please society and fae they didnât even know, let alone care about? But even so, we needed to be honest with each other if we had any hope of knowing where we stood and moving forward.
Without hesitation, I knew I was all in. The walls of the castle had been our prison for too long, and without them, we were finally getting to taste the forbidden fruit, and it was fucking delicious.
I hated the thought of what theyâd had to hide. The secrets, the lies, concealing their true natures⦠I fucking hated it. And for all that I hated it, I wouldnât let it come between us even more.
